So, what is the Discworld?
Well picture yourself floating around in a galaxy far far away. There is a gigantic turtle swimming by you in the void of space , with four really big (but still not gigantic) elephants on it's back supporting a disc with dome-shaped atmosphere, and on the disc you can make out mountain ranges, oceans, lakes and cities. Well that's the general view, but if you want to have a more clear picture of it you should read the books written by Pratchett. You'll find here wizards, dragons, heroes and household hygine specialists. There danger here, but there is also custard around the place. Because Discworld is a fantasy world with a low reality threshold. The real world keeps on breaking through - but Discworld changes it.

The Discworld books don't just follow the normal fantasy genre- they're actually very funny! There's nothing particularly futuristic about the Discworld, in fact electricity hasn't been invented yet and neither have proper guns. There are strange life forms there though, like dwarfs, trolls, undead and even DEATH himself!
